James Gunn’s goodbye has been definitive. After releasing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the filmmaker leaves Marvel behind to look to the future.
James Gunn has completely forgotten about Marvel. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 already in theaters, fans have been wondering if this really marks the end of the great filmmaker’s run in the MCU. The current director and co-CEO of DC Studios has given a definitive answer on the matter. It feels like we need to completely forget about having him in the Kevin Feige-led movie universe.
Kevin & I are good friends so we talk, but I’m strictly DC now, other than Vol 3.

A user of Twitter asked James Gunn if he was “completely done” with Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige. Or if he planned to continue helping them from time to time. The director of The Suicide Squad responded that, although he speaks with Kevin Feige and is close friends with the president of the MCU, he is now “strictly DC Comics.” Therefore, the farewell to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been truly final. A goodbye that many have applauded, both for its emotional nature and for touching on forgotten themes.
The immediate future of the filmmaker is ‘Superman: Legacy’
James Gunn is not only the co-CEO of DC Studios and head of the DC Universe reboot as of now, but He is also going to be the director and writer of Superman: Legacy. Recently, the Marvel Studios filmmaker made a bet with a fan about the next DC Universe Superman movie. A bet that could make him eat a shoe in a few years.

“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the official synopsis for the James Gunn film. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as passé.” Too bad it won’t continue at Marvel Studios. However, we have a very bright and promising future ahead of us.
