A Wrinkle in Time would beat the Warner Bros

Previously, he was only known as a producer of quality biopic films. Such as Selma (2014) and the Netflix release film 13th (2016).

But, unfortunately, the record that has been inscribed by Ava DuVernay, it seems, is not bearing fruit. She failed to follow in the footsteps of another female director: Patty Jenkins. Which was successful with the big-budget blockbuster Wonder Woman (2017). After being released in America on March 9, 2018, A Wrinkle in Time recorded mediocre earnings. In fact, until now, this 109-minute film has only been able to collect revenue of USD 55 million. It’s still a long way from getting a return on investment from the budget. That reached USD 100 million.

Of course, the poor results at the box office were very unsatisfactory. In fact, from the start, Disney had boasted that A Wrinkle in Time would beat the Warner Bros. release. Pictures: Wonder Woman. Both have a jumbo budget and were worked on by the female director.

So far, it seems that Disney is not in a relationship with non-sequel live-action films, franchises, or those that are not adapted from animated versions. Besides A Wrinkle in Time, call it Saving Mr. Banks (2013), The BFG (2016), Pete’s Dragon (2016), Queen of Katwe (2016), and Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016). All of which also crashed in the market.

What’s even worse, apart from being hilarious at the box office, A Wrinkle in Time also received negative reviews from critics. This film is considered similar to Tomorrowland (2015). And, perhaps, his fate will also be the same: Failed to be accepted by the public. Even though it has brought big names like George Clooney.

Tomb Raider is an action-adventure video game by the legendary Core Design. Which, having first been released in 1996 by Eidos Interactive, received positive response from critics. In fact, the video game with the main character of a archaeologist named Lara Croft is considered one of the best video games ever made.

As usual, the success of the video game Tomb Raider immediately caught the attention of film producers in Hollywood. Lara Croft then penetrated the big screen. His first film was released in 2001. With the star Angelina “Angie” Jolie as the main character.

However, unfortunately, although Angie’s appearance, with a black leather tank top and hot pants and brown hair braided, received a lot of praise, overall, the first film, entitled Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, received a negative response from critics. The action scenes are considered too stylish. And the plot of the story is not strong enough.

However, even so, the income of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider from the box office which is quite decent (USD 275 million) makes Paramount Pictures not give up on releasing a sequel. The title is Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003). Which still relies on Angelina Jolie as the main star. However, again, the second film also received negative responses from critics. In fact, with a lower income than the first film (USD 156 million).
