2021 is already halfway through. The Oricon site has announced the most popular manga in Japan according to a survey from the company.
Periodically, Oricon often conducts a survey of the best-selling novels, manga, and books throughout the year.

Reported from various sources, Thursday (2/9/2021), from the survey results from November 23, 2020 to May 23, 2021, here is a list of the 5 most popular manga:

1. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
After the name of the comic artist Koyoharu Gotouge was included in the list of 100 influential people according to TIME Magazine, Demon Slayer’s success became more and more rampant.
According to the Oricon website, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, which premiered in Shonen Jump magazine on February 15, 2016, sold 26.3 million copies in Japan.

“Their characters are all unique but still rooted in reality. That is very difficult to achieve.

2. Jujutsu Kaisen
Manga Jujutsu Kaisen, which is known as a rising star in the Japanese comic industry, took second place. In Japan, the manga sold approximately 25 million copies.

Since the anime version was broadcast on Japanese television stations in October 2020, the name Jujutsu Kaisen began to mushroom in Indonesia.

Even the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is considered to rival Attack on Titan which is no less trending in the country.

3. Tokyo Revengers
The Tokyo Revengers manga is in third place with sales of around 5 million copies in Japan. The manga, written and drawn by Ken Wakui, premiered in March 2017.

Tokyo Revengers tells the story of Takemichi, a 26-year-old unemployed man who just found out that the woman who became his girlfriend when he was in high school died because of a gang of delinquents.

One day, after being nearly killed by a train, he realizes that he has returned to the past when he was in middle school and begins to try to change his girlfriend’s future.

4. Shingeki No Kyojin / Attack on Titan
The Attack on Titan manga written and drawn by Hajime Isayama is in fourth place. The manga, which ended in April 2021, sold 6.3 million copies.

5. Chainsaw Man
The Chainsaw Man manga is in fifth place with sales of around 4.1 million copies. Written by manga creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, Chainsaw Man was nominated for a Manga Taisho award in 2019.

Kaisen’s Jujutsu Manga Sold 55 Million Copy Since Anime Debut

Publisher Shueisha reported earlier this week the sales results of the stunning Jujutsu Kaisen manga . There were 2.15 million early printed copies of the 17th compiled book volume which achieved record sales.
The manga sold 55 million copies in circulation. Includes both printed and digital copies when the 17th volume officially comes out on October 4, 2021.

Reporting from Anime News Network, Tuesday (28/9/2021), the circulation of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has increased by about 650% since the premiere of the anime adaptation last October.
Because the anime version aired, the 15th manga compilation volume alone sold 1.5 million copies at the beginning of its broadcast. As of October 29, Gege Akutami’s manga has sold 10 million copies.

On December 16, 2021, the number rose sharply to 15 million copies and increased on February 9 to 30 million copies.

As of March 4, 2021, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga sold 35 million copies. By the end of March, it had reached 40 million copies.

The latest sales figures as of April 21, 2021, Jujutsu Kaisen have sold 45 million copies.

Gege Akutami launched the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in Shueisha’s weekly Shonen Jump magazine starting in March 2018. VIZ Media published the manga’s first three chapters in English simultaneously in Japan as part of its Jump Start initiative.

When VIZ Media switched to Shonen Jump in December 2018, the company began publishing manga chapters digitally. Shueisha is also releasing the manga on the MANGA Plus website service.

The anime version of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered on October 2, 2020 and has 24 episodes. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie which is a Jujutsu Kaisen franchise will premiere on December 24, 2021.

Jujutsu Kaisen tells the story of high school student Yuji Itadori who hangs out with students at the Occult Club. One day, the club members get a cursed object that is sealed but the terror becomes more and more gripping as they try to break the seal.
