5 Chelsea stars who could leave Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2022: Timo Werner on this list?

Chelsea are showing signs of facing a busy summer as the futures of some players are still in the dark.

Chelsea manager , Thomas Tuchel, is trying to build the Blues into Premier League title challengers again and will be looking for additional ammunition to make it happen.

Declan Rice, Jules Kunde and Aurélien Tchouaméni are reportedly the club’s main targets. But they are unlikely to be signed without the player trimming some of the current squad.

Chelsea have a big squad, and trimming it down is one of the club’s main goals after the season is over.

While Chelsea are trying to let go of some unused players, some of the top stars can leave too. Here are five players who could leave Chelsea in the summer, as quoted by Sportkeeda .

1. Antonio Rudiger
Antonio Rudiger is nearing the end of his Chelsea contract, and the German will be on a free transfer in the summer. He has repeatedly admitted that he wants to continue at Stamford Bridge.

“I feel great here, I’ve always said that.

However, when he asked the Blues they didn’t just say yes. Rudiger reportedly asked for a salary of more than 200 thousand pounds (Rp3.84 billion) per week. Nominal was considered too high by the Blues.

There is a chance for Rudiger to sign a new contract. However, if there is no immediate deal, Rudiger could walk away, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich reportedly interested in him.

2. Cesar Azpilicueta
Another player who will be on a free transfer is club captain, Cesar Azpilicueta. The Spaniard has won it all at Stamford Bridge and is the only player in the club’s history to do so.

He reportedly showed signs of wanting to sign a multi-year contract, but the Blues only offered him one year.

The club has an unwritten rule of only offering one year contracts to players over 30 years of age. The Blues have to break that rule if they want to keep the captain.

Barcelona have reportedly offered him a multi-year contract and are willing to match his salary at Stamford Bridge.

3. Andreas Christensen
Andreas Christensen’s situation at Chelsea is especially complicated as the Dane star had previously agreed a new contract before suddenly deciding to terminate it.

The defender is in talks with the club to renew his contract, and everything is going well. However, it was reported that there were problems with his agent before he signed the contract.

Now, things seem to have calmed down, and there are no talks between the player, his agent and the club. Moreover, the defender has reportedly hired a new agent (Kinpartners-Kinfootball) to handle contract talks.

Barcelona are now leading the chase to land Christensen this summer on a free transfer.

4. Kepa Arrizabalaga
Thomas Tuchel has reinvigorated Kepa Arrizabalaga’s career, but there is no sign of the goalkeeper getting a starting spot yet. The Spaniard’s confidence has returned. He can look good every time he plays.

Kepa clearly doesn’t like spending only two seasons on the Chelsea bench, and is doubtful he will spend another season as Edouard Mendy’s understudy.

Kepa is likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, but it is unclear whether he will move on loan or on a permanent deal.

He has more than three years left on his current contract, and the Blues do not want to keep him at the club against his will. Reports earlier this month suggested Tuchel was open to letting Kepa leave if he wanted to play regular football from next season.

Lazio and Sevilla have been linked with Kepa, but there is no concrete indication the two clubs will make any significant maneuvers.

5. Timo Werner
Chelsea activated Timo Werner’s release clause with much hope, but the German failed to produce a ferocious display in front of goal. He is good at running and making room for his team-mates, but the goals are dry.

In recent games, the former RB Leipzig star has barely started, and rumors suggest his future at the club is in jeopardy.

Should he fail to make an impact in the coming months, a move back to the Bundesliga could be a possibility.

Tuchel is reportedly interested in reuniting with former player Ousmane Dembele. If the Barcelona player is signed, the Blues will most likely cut their losses on Werner and sell him this summer.
