The U-20 Brazil national team achieved great success at the 2011 U-20 World Cup. In the tournament which was held in Colombia, the Young Selecao succeeded in coming out as champions.

Ney Franco’s team actually appeared unconvincing in their inaugural match in Group E. The Brazil U-20 national team drew 1-1 against Egypt in their opening game.

However, in the next two matches, Brazil appeared slick. Philippe Coutinho and friends won 3-0 over Austria and 4-0 over Panama.

The progress of the U-20 Brazilian National Team was smooth until the final. At the top of the party they beat Portugal with a score of 3-2. The match went into extra time.

Henrique Almeida won the best player award at the tournament. However, the Brazilian U-20 player has not developed at the senior level.

Casemiro was not only the first choice at the 2011 U-20 World Cup. However, Casemiro was able to develop into an extraordinary player at the senior level.

The player, who is now 31 years old, has also achieved great success in Spain. There have been many titles won, including five Champions League titles which he presented to Los Blancos.

Since the summer of 2022, Casemiro has started a new challenge in England. Now he is a mainstay midfielder for Manchester United, and has presented the Carabao Cup trophy this season.

Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho’s talent has been smelled by Inter Milan since 2008. However, he only moved to Italy in 2010.

Coutinho’s career at Inter did not go smoothly. In fact, he had to go on loan to Spanish club Espanyol in the 2012/2013 season.

Philippe Coutinho’s move to Liverpool in the summer of 2013 changed his career. He later became known as one of the best attacking midfielders at the time.

Barcelona did not hesitate to spend 135 million euros for Coutinho in the winter of 2018. Unfortunately, the transfer did not go as expected. Now, Coutinho returns to England to strengthen Aston Villa.

Danilo
Danilo was still playing at Santos during the 2011 U-20 World Cup. His good performance at the tournament made FC Porto sure to sign him in the same year.

Danilo played well while in Portugal. Real Madrid did not hesitate to ask for her hand in the summer of 2015 at a cost of 31 million euros.

This full-back played in England with Manchester City. Since the summer of 2019, he left England to play in Italy with Juventus.

Danilo is still an important part of Juventus. Even became the club captain this season.

Alex Sandro
Alex Sandro has a similar career path to Danilo. Both of them played for Santos and FC Porto. The two players were also mainstays in Brazil’s back line when they won the 2011 U-20 World Cup.

Juventus spent 28 million euros to bring in Danilo from FC Porto in the summer of 2015. Until now, the 32-year-old player is still in Turin.

Alex Sandro is not as fired as he used to be. However, in several matches his energy is still quite needed by Juventus.

Oscars
Together with Henrique, Oscar became the main pillar of Brazil at the 2011 U-20 World Cup. Oscar even scored a hat-trick in the final against Portugal.

Oscar’s career continued to climb after the tournament. Chelsea spent 32 million euros to redeem him from Brazilian club Internacional in the summer of 2012.

Oscar’s career at Chelsea is fairly good. Oscar gave two Premier League titles and one Europa League title to the London Blue Team.

However, Oscar made a surprise by accepting an offer from Shanghai SIPG in the winter of 2017. Shanghai then spent 60 million euros to secure Oscar’s signature.

Until now Oscar is still playing in China. Although Shanghai SIPG has changed its name to Shanghai Port.
