It is widely said that Manchester United will appoint Ralf Rangnick to sit in the manager’s chair. However, Rangnick will only be United’s interim manager.

The news was expressed by European transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano. Ralf Rangnick will manage the Red Devils for a while and then become a consultant to the club in the future.

Ralf Rangnick told the Manchester United board on Monday (11/22/2021) that he would accept the post of interim manager,” Romano wrote.

“After that, he will be a consultant for the club in the future with full power, including in terms of player deals. Manchester United are ready to accept these conditions,” he continued.

Ralf Rangnick is one of the best coaches from Germany. The tactics employed by Rangnick have inspired many of Europe’s top coaches.

The following are three coaches who were inspired by the playing pattern adopted by Ralf Rangnick

Jurgen Klopp
The 54-year-old manager is one of the most popular coaches in implementing the gegenpresing strategy. This pattern of play was used by Klopp when he handled Borussia Dortmund and is now with Liverpool.

But apparently, the gegenpresing tactic was first developed by Ralf Rangnick . Gegenpresing is a style of playing to press the opponent when he loses the ball, and immediately launch a counterattack.

Defenders are given the freedom to press almost to the middle of the field. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper stays in goal without too much interaction with the ball.

“Rangnick is one of the best coaches, if not the best German coach,” said Klopp, who won nine trophies in his coaching career.

Thomas Tuchel
Unlike the inspired Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel is a direct student of Ralf Rangnick. Tuchel once teamed up with Rangnick at VfB Stuttgart.

In 2000, Ralf Rangnick, who served as coach of Stuttgart, recruited Thomas Tuchel to manage the youth team. While nurturing the VfB Stuttgart junior team, Tuchel also found a number of quality young footballers, namely Mario Gomez and Holger Badstuber.

Having learned a lot from Ralf Rangnick, Thomas Tuchel is considered one of the best coaches in Europe. Often applying the gegenpresing strategy, the German man has won eight trophies in his career as a coach, one of which is the 2020/2021 Champions League title with Chelsea.

“Rangnick has a unique view of coaching a team,” said Thomas Tuchel.

Julian Nagelsmann
This young German coach started his career as coach of the junior team of 1899 Hoffenheim in 2010. At the same time, Ralf Rangnick was sitting in the chair of the senior team of Hoffenheim.

Julian Nagelsmann also had one season to work with Rangnick. Although it was short, Nagelsmann learned a lot from Rangnick.

After taking over as coach of 1899 Hoffenheim in 2016, Julian Nagelsmann’s career has shone even further. Based on the philosophy of gegenpress tactics, Nagelsmann managed to bring Hoffenheim to third place in the 2017/2018 Bundesliga.

After that, he took care of RB Leipzig in the 2019-2021 season. Under the direction of Nagelsmann, Leipzig was ranked third in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga final standings and second in the 2020/2021 season, and penetrated the Champions League semifinals.

Entering this season, the 34-year-old coach takes care of Bayern Munich. Although relatively young, he was able to make Bayern firmly at the top of the Bundesliga and Champions League standings, while winning the 2021 DFL Supercup.
