The Cleveland Guardians had some expectations of being a contender this MLB season after clinching the division title in 2022.
They haven’t been able to live up to expectations so far this season in the Major Leagues, especially due to injuries to some key players, but they’re not giving up.
And despite not being playing as expected, they do not regret letting some players go in recent years, such as the controversial Cuban Yasiel Puig.
The veteran Venezuelan right-hander left Cleveland in 2021, along with Francisco Lindor, in the trade that brought Gold Glove winner Andrés Giménez and Amed Rosario. In Queens he has had many ups and downs and although his last season was good, this season he has an 8.68 ERA with two winless losses and some physical problems. Overall his numbers with the Mets are 16-14 in 45 games, a 4.85 ERA and 213 fanouts in 224.1 innings pitched.
