Of course the sensation is different, even some films are considered unable to meet the expectations of the audience of the novel version.
However, there are also films adapted from novels that have won the attention of the audience. The film successfully displays important details in the novel to be able to appear in the motion picture version. Like the following novel, whose film adaptation has won at least one nomination for the 94th Academy Awards or the 2022 Oscar. Anything? Let’s take a peek.
The Power of the Dog
The story is about brothers Phil and George who live on their parents’ farm in the 1920s. Different in character and appearance, Phil is described as a strong and charismatic man who is dominant. Meanwhile, George, on the other hand, is gentle and empathetic.
Their quiet life changed when George decided to marry a widow with one child. Phil, who feels betrayed, acts unfriendly to his new family member. This book is slow-paced with a chilling ending.

The Lost Daughter
Consisting of only 140 pages, Maggie Gyllenhaal also skillfully adapted this novel by Elena Ferrante into a 2 hour film. The only thing that makes it a little different is the ending.
Broadly speaking, this novel revolves around Leda. A professor in his 40s vacationing alone to the Greek coast alone. In the middle of his vacation, he meets a young mother who makes him remember his own bitter experiences in the past. Mothers are not always perfect and this is the point that Ferrante tries to explore in his book.
Dune is also one of the films nominated at this year’s Oscars. It is adapted from the classic novel by Frank Herbert which consists of 658 pages. In accordance with the number of pages, the duration of 2 hours is not enough to adapt the entire plot in the novel. That’s why the producers also divided the film into two parts. After the first part was released in late 2021, the second part is planned to be released to the public in 2023.
The core of this film is the journey of a young man named Paul Atreides who is a member of a respectable clan assigned to control a barren region rich in expensive spices. Dune’s novels have won many awards since their release, including the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award.
