19 Premier League Clubs Ask for Emergency Meeting After Newcastle Changed Status To Rich Team
British media Guardian reported that 19 2021/2022 Premier League clubs had complained to league operators about the takeover of Newcastle United by a consortium led by a Saudi Arabian tycoon.
Not only that, these 19 teams are also pushing for an emergency meeting next week. The Premier League announced on Thursday that Newcastle had been sold to a group consisting of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.
Previously this investment group had offered 305 million pounds to buy Newcastle United in April 2020.
The deal fell through three months later amid scrutiny from the league, which was under pressure to halt sales due to concerns over alleged piracy broadcasts in Saudi Arabia.
The ban was lifted on Wednesday, clearing up major obstacles to the takeover.
United Teams Attack Newcastle
The Guardian also said 19 Premier League clubs had united against a Saudi consortium being allowed to buy the club previously owned by Mike Ashley.
Clubs have also raised concerns that the league’s brand could be undermined by Saudi Arabia’s PIF chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. To note, Mohamed Bin Salman has an 80 percent stake in Newcastle United .
Reportedly Buy Star Player

Premier League: Newcastle United Aim for World Class Players, but…
The new owner of Newcastle United continues to make promises. They plan to build a team with world-class players. They hired Liverpool transfer expert Frank McParland.
Newcastle director Amanda Staveley replied with a tone of optimism when asked if he was interested in signing a player like Kylian Mbappe, who could negotiate with the club in January.
“We are in the market to compete for world class players. We have big ambitions – I hope this will be a game changer for Newcastle United, “he told The Sun .
However, to bring in world-class players, Newcastle need to renovate the club’s infrastructure, especially the training ground.
One of Newcastle United’s most pressing priorities is a substandard training ground.
Fortunately, that is an area we are not restricted by Financial Fair Play. There’s no point in having fantastic players if there’s no place for them to train,” he said.
Big Fund
Newcastle United became OKB (New Rich) in the Premier League after being acquired by a Saudi Arabian consortium. Mohammed bin Salman, through the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), officially becomes the new owner of The Magpies.
Reportedly, Newcastle have the opportunity to spend 200 million pounds on players. Newcastle could spend that money in the nearest transfer window. Management has calculated and the amount does not violate Financial Fair Play regulations.
“For me, Newcastle is like a fantastic gem — it just needs a little bit of improvement at every level,” said Staveley.
They have to be strong and we need to build on them. We also want to invest in St James’ Park – needs a little more love.”
